Barrington St., Halifax, N.S. was the scene of a shocking tragedy Tuesday morn. last. Some six years ago Miss LAPHAM of Halifax, married Richard D. SAVAGE, a car driver of New York. The marriage was an unhappy one; Savage, it appears, not only borrowed money of his bride and failed to return it, but also treated her so cruelly that she was forced to leave him about three months ago. She returned to Halifax with her little boy and has since then supported herself and him by sewing. On Monday eve., Savage, who had followed her to Halifax, came to her house on Barrington street and it is supposed tried to persude her to return to New York. This she refused to do. He then drew a revolver and shot her and the child and turned the weapon upon himself. The child died instantly; the others after a few hours. It is clear that the deed was premeditated by him as a paper was found in his pocket dated Nov. 1st in which he requested the child should be buried in Camp Hill Cemetery and offered his own body to any medical college that would take it.
