Architectural Drawings

Over two centuries of domestic, public and institutional architecture are recorded in the more than 250,000 sheets of plans which have been received from government departments, municipalities, firms, and individuals. These drawings may be conceptual, preliminary, or detailed in nature. They are regularly used in historical research and exhibits, and are often consulted for restoration of structures.

The majority of provincial public works contracts date from 1950, although a number have survived for structures designed much earlier. Architectural firms have deposited plans for public as well as private buildings.

The drawings are indexed by building type and location, the name of the architect or designer, and date. Sectional photocopies may be obtained of most items, and reproductions can usually be provided for publication or exhibit.
