This map shows the route from Halifax to Rivière du Loup (Quebec) on the Saint John and Saint Lawrence Rivers in 1815. The author, Joseph Bouchette, was the Surveyor General for Lower Canada and a well know cartographer. The map also contain information on the boundary between the United States and New Brunswick.
Joseph Bouchette (1774 - 1841) was named Surveyor General for Lower Canada in 1804 in recognition for his many previous years of work in this field. He later became special surveyor to the King, which had him involved in the boundary dispute between New Brunswick and the State of Maine in the United States.
