Place : Saint Leonard
Date : c 1900

At the turn of the 20th century, the town of St. Leonard in the Madawaska region was a small bustling business centre. St. Leonard is at the New Brunswick-Maine border and close to the Quebec border. Thanks to this strategic location, it is on excellent terms with all its neighbours. This photo was taken on the main street in St. Leonard at a time when transportation still consisted of horse-drawn carriages travelling dirt roads.
