Reference number: P5-323

Place : Kingsclear
Date : c 1890

New Brunswick's economy long centred on natural-resource development. Indeed, fisheries, agriculture, mining, and forestry were the mainstays of the population for many years. There are farming operations just about everywhere in the province, and the types of crops differ greatly from one region to another. This photo shows a man harvesting wheat with horses at Kingsclear, looking towards the mouth of Keswick. Note the famous "McCormack Binder" and three-horse hitch.
