The Collège du Sacré-Coeur in Caraquet was founded in 1899 and received its charter from the provincial government in 1900. Unfortunately on December 30,1915 the College was completely destroyed in a fire. In 1917 Bathurst was chosen as the permanent location for the college. It was named a university in 1941. The university subsequently became part of the Université de Moncton, established in 1963. The building is currently used by the New Brunswick Community. This photo shows the College of Bathurst as it was around 1944.
