The Fraser pulp and paper mill in Edmundston was built in 1917. It was first expanded to accommodate the new autoclaves used for preparing stock. Starting in the 1920s, Fraser also operated a rail tie manufacturing plant and a shingle mill, both in Edmundston, as well as a stock preparation plant in Maine.
