Beaver Harbour
from 1862: in the late 1800s there was talk of changing the name of Beaver Harbour to Charlotteport in honor of the county of
Charlotte
but the name was never widely used: in 1866 Beaver Harbour was a fishing and farming village with approximately 30 resident families: in 1871 it had a population of 150: in 1898 Beaver Harbour was a port of entry with 1 post office, 5 stores, 1 hotel, 1 sardine factory, 2 churches and a population of 500.
