Description
Gloucester County: established in 1814 as a parish in Northumberland County and named for William Carr, Viscount of Beresford (1768-1854), who played a prominent role in the Peninsular War: Beresford Parish included Restigouche County until 1826 when Addington Parish and Durham Parish were formed.
