Located on W side of the St. John River, 3.18 km NE of Oromocto: Burton Parish, Sunbury County: PO 1856-1915: in 1866 Burton was a farming settlement with about 58 families including 5 Estabrook families: in 1898 Burton had 1 post office, 1 grist mill, 2 churches and a population of 100: included the community of Upper Burton: PO 1878-1916: in 1898 Upper Burton was a farming settlement with 1 post office, 1 sawmill and a population of 80: included the community of Lower Burton.
