Description
Northumberland County: created in 1814 from Newcastle Parish: named for Charles Grant, Lord Glenelg (1788-1866), secretary of state for the colonies in the British cabinet, and for the village of Glenelg in Scotland: included Hardwicke Parish until 1851 and part of Rogersville Parish until 1900.
