Kings County: first called Butternut Ridge for the large number of butternut trees in the region: PO 1848-1964: in 1866 Butternut Ridge was a farming community with about 65 resident families including 20 Keiths and 11 Prices: in 1871 the community and the surrounding district had a population of 500: in 1898 Butternut Ridge had 1 post office, 1 cheese factory, 1 church and a population of about 150: in 1866 it was a farming settlement with approximately 21 resident families: in 1904 Butternut Ridge was the terminus of the Elgin, Petitcodiac and Havelock Railway and had 4 stores, 1 mineral water factory, 1 carriage factory, 2 churches and a population of 500: PO
