Northumberland County: established in 1814 from Newcastle Parish and part of Alnwick Parish: named for William Carnegie, 7th Earl of Northesk (1758-1831), who served at the Battle of Trafalgar and became an admiral in the British Navy: included Southesk Parish until 1879.
