Carleton County: PO 1859-1916: in 1866 Waterville was a farming and lumbering settlement with 60 families: Joseph Burpee, Lewis Getchell and John McCready were mill owners: in 1871 Waterville and surrounding district had a population of about 500: in 1898 Waterville had 1 post office, 1 store, 1 grist mill, 1 sawmill, 3 churches and a population of 150: included Rockwell Settlement: in 1866 Rockwell Settlement was a farming community with approximately 10 resident families, including the families of Alexander Rockwell and Lot Rockwell: included Walton Settlement: in 1866 Walton Settlement was a farming community with approximately 10 resident families, including the families of Charles Walton, Samuel Walton and Thomas Walton.
