Charlotte County: named by David Owen in 1835 for Welshpool, Wales who settled in the area in 1806: included Campobello: PO 1837-1924 with Louisa Moses as an early postmaster: in 1866 "Campo Bello" was a fishing village with approximately 200 resident families: in 1871 it had a population of 600: in 1898 Welshpool was a port of entry and had 1 post office, 5 stores, 1 hotel, 1 lobster factory, 3 churches and a population of 700: PO
