Carleton County: established in 1786 as a parish in York County: named for the 3rd Duke of Portland, Viscount Woodstock, or for the town of Woodstock, near Northampton, England: Woodstock Parish contained Dumfries Parish, York County until 1833 and part of Richmond Parish until 1853.
