John Inglis (1777-1850) was installed as the third Anglican Bishop of Nova Scotia in 1825, succeeding Bishop Robert Stanser. At that time, the Diocese’s territorial boundaries included Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, and Bermuda. Beginning in 1839, the Diocese of Nova Scotia was subdivided and the Diocese of Newfoundland and Bermuda (1839), the Diocese of Fredericton (1845), and the Ecclesiastical Commissary for Prince Edward Island (1842) were created.
