St. Thomas Church, Stanley, N.B., deed of consecration. – 7 January 1879. – 1 p. of textual records. Bishop Medley consecrated this church on 7 January 1880 not 7 January 1879 as recorded in the official deed. MC223-S13-2B4 Diocese of Fredericton fonds, PANB. The correct date is confirmed in Bishop Medley’s register, dating from 1845-1892, where he writes, in January 1880, “The new church of St. Thomas, Stanley was consecrated on Wednesday the 7th of January…The church was begun in the spring of 1879 and its rapid completion was due to the zealous labours and constructive skills of Lieutenant-Colonel Raymond, father of the Missionary in charge, as well as to the exertions of the parishioners….” MC223-S13-2B4 Diocese of Fredericton fonds, PANB.
