Copy of letter from James Brown, surveyor-general, to the Rt. Rev. Dr. Sweeny, Bishop of Saint John. – 4 June 1860. – 2 pp. of textual records. Brown assures Dr. Sweeny that “the Government desire to give every encouragement” to his land settlement scheme, but states that his request for a grant of 20,000 acres of land will be reduced to 10,000, as the former amount is too much to handle at one time. RS637-1a28 Records of the surveyor general, letter book, 21 November 1855-15 October 1862, pp. 265-266, PANB.
