Copy of letter from Robert Shives, immigrant agent, Saint John, N.B., to James Brown, surveyor general of New Brunswick. – 23 July 1859. – 1 p. of textual records. Shives outlines the Rev. Mr. Sweeny’s proposal to settle a number of people on crown lands. He notes that a delegation headed by Felix McGuire visited Westmorland and Albert counties looking for suitable land to establish a settlement. Shives states that he hopes an order for survey will be issued so that those wanting lots may receive them. This letter points to the Rev. Sweeny’s determination to settle members of his flock in various locations in the province under the provisions of the
