New Brunswick During World War II
Recruitment and Mobilization
New Brunswick's contributions to the war effort brought profound changes to the province. Training bases, military air strips, and munitions factories were established.
During the Second World War, New Brunswickers served in Canadian military units in the air, at sea, and on land. Several army regiments, however, were raised here and have distinctively New Brunswick names: the 8th Hussars, the North Shore Regiment, New Brunswick Rangers, Carleton and York Regiment, and the Saint John Fusiliers.
