Administrative History
The Photographic Services Branch began as Graphic Services, a part of the Photogrammetry
Branch formed in 1945, in the Department of Natural Resources. It was transferred
to the Department of Supply and Services in 1984. Photographic Services was part
of Services Group of the Supply and General Services Division. In 1992, as a budgetary
reduction measure, it was decided that much of the work done by this service would
be provided by private sector sources.
This section provided photography services to all New Brunswick government departments
and agencies. Their main functions were making photograph reproductions from maps,
plans, photos, booklets, artwork, prints and enlargements from aerial vertical negatives
of the province, negatives for offset printing, photographing personnel for identification
cards, and drymounting.
