MORRIS, EDWARD JOSEPH (1888-1952)

MORRIS, EDWARD JOSEPH, pharmacist; b. Newcastle, 12 Jul 1888, s/o Hugh J. Morris and Caroline McCabe; m. 1917, Catherine Lillian Flanagan, d/o Thomas Flanagan and Alice Henry; d. Newcastle, 3 Nov 1952.

A graduate of the Toronto School of Pharmacy, Edward J. Morris opened a drug store on the Town Square in Newcastle in 1913. In 1916 he took over the pharmaceutical business of Albert E. Shaw, who departed for Newark, N.J., that year. It was stated in his obituary in the North Shore Leader that he conducted the business for twenty-three years.

Morris played a part in town affairs and was a member, and secretary for many years, of the County Almshouse Commission. He and his wife, C. Lillian Flanagan, raised three sons and a daughter.
