TEED, WILLIAM HAROLD (1890-1954)

TEED, WILLIAM HAROLD, lawyer and county secretary-treasurer; b. Richmond Corner, Carleton Co., N.B., 28 Aug 1890, s/o the Rev. Arthur William Teed and Cora King; m. 1917, Isabel Nina Nash, RN, a resident of Alberta, formerly of Derbyshire, England; d. Newcastle, 30 Nov 1954.

W. Harold Teed was educated at Rothesay Collegiate School, the University of New Brunswick (BA 1912), and King's College (BCL 1915). He served overseas with the Canadian Expeditionary Force in World War I and was a captain at the time of his discharge. His wife served also, in the Canadian Medical Corps. He opened a law office in Chatham in 1920 but practiced only until he was appointed secretary-treasurer of the county in 1921, as successor to E. Perley Williston. He occupied this position until his death thirty-three years later. He was also secretary-treasurer of the County School Finance Board for nine years.

Teed sat on the Newcastle Town Council and was affiliated with the Conservative party, the Masonic order, and the Anglican church. He was survived in 1954 by his wife, Isabel N. Nash, and three sons.
