MURPHY, GEORGINA, Sister Murphy of the Religious Hospitallers of St Joseph; teacher and pharmacist; b. Ludlow parish, 1881, d/o George T. Murphy and Margaret McCarthy; entered religious life, c1906; d. Chatham, 9 Dec 1941.

The daughter of a Baptist father and Catholic mother, Georgina Murphy was a teacher before she joined the Religious Hospitallers of St Joseph. Some time later she became a registered pharmacist. One of three sisters who survived her in 1941 was Margaret Murphy (Sister McCarthy of the Religious Hospitallers of St Joseph), who was a member of the teaching staff of St Michael's Academy.
