PICKLES, FLETCHER HARRIS WILSON (1835-1908)

PICKLES, FLETCHER HARRIS WILSON, Methodist minister, Newcastle circuit, 1900-02; b. Sackville, N.B., 2 Jan 1835, s/o Michael Pickles and Fanny Black Wilson; m. 1863, Harriet A. Ricketson, of Bear River, N.S.; d. Lawrencetown, N.S., 2 Nov 1908.

After studying at Mount Allison Academy, Fletcher H. W. Pickles was received into the Methodist ministry on trial in 1858, and he was ordained in 1863. A "bright, genial and friendly" man, he served in many parts of the Maritimes for thirty-nine years, his last assignment being at Newcastle from 1900 to 1902. He was then a supply minister in Saint John for several years before retiring in Nova Scotia. He and his wife, Harriet A. Ricketson, had a daughter and a son.
