Abstract City of Saint John, St. John County, Husbandman. Will dated 23 July 1799, proved 12 August 1800. On 25 July 1800 the next of kin of "Smith HATFIELD" were cited to appear and show cause why administration of the estate should not be granted to John WOODWARD, auctioneer, of Saint John. Son Matthias HATFIELD, a minor, dwelling house and land in Saint John at age 21. Sons John and Cornelius each £5. Daughter Mary VAUGHAN 5 shillings. Residue of estate divided among children. Jonathan LEAVITT and William YOUNG executors. Witnesses: Elijah TILTON, Conrad WORT, Robert ANDREWS. On 12 August 1800 administration was granted to John WOODWARD, the named executors, Jonathan LEAVITT and William YOUNG, having renounced.
