Parish of Westfield, (Kings County.), St. John County records, Mason. Holographic will dated 16 February 1803, proved at Saint John 20 September 1804. Son James and daughters Bettey and Margret HUME entire estate. John CLARK, baker, and Robert WOOD of Saint John executors. Witnesses: William SECORD, Christopher WATSON, William HELMS. File contains an agreement, dated at Carriacou (in the Windward Islands) 6 December 1781, between James Philip WILSON and John HUME, witnesses by James MANSON, overseer on Lance LaROCHE Estate. HUME agreed to perform mason work at the rate of 6 shillings 10 pence, WILSON to supply board and lodging for HUME and his two Negroes. A similar agreement was executed 8 January 1783 at Carriacou between HUME and John BARCLAY. A statement of account dated 23 May 1785 indicates HUME was employed, with three negro masons, for twelve months at £27 per month, with James STEWART at Grenada on the LaSagesse, Requin and Tempe estates. File also contains a bill of exchange for £12 Sterling in favour of Mrs. Elinor HUME, drawn at Grenada 1 October 1777.
