Abstract Parish of Gagetown, Queens County, Esquire. Undated (appears to be circa 1806, or earlier) holographic will proved 28 January 1820. Eldest son Valentine Hewlett my silver tankard. Son Charles Jeffery, James, Thomas Horsfield, Harry, Benjamin Lester and William Tyng and my daughter Sally each £10 as an equivalent. Wife all household furniture and £100 towards providing for her support and the bringing up and education of such of my children as may be under the age of twenty one years. Wife the use of farm and dwelling while a widow. Should she choose not to operate the farm, she to be paid £30 per annum from my estate while widow. My negro wench Caro to live with and serve my wife while she remains a widow. Should my wife marry, Caro to be free to choose whether to continue to reside with her or with either of my children and in consideration of her long and faithful service, it is my will that she be kindly treated and provided with every necessary that may contribute to render her comfortable and happy in her declining years. Her husband Pompey RUMNEY be kindly treated and provided for if required. My negro man Len be manumitted on condition that he serve my wife until 1 January 1807. Having regard for what I have already done for my Daughter Sally and my two Eldest Sons, Valentine Hewlett and Charles Jeffery, son James £250 and my four sons, Thomas Horsfield, Harry, Benjamin Lester and William Tyng, each £300 at age 21. Son-in-law Thomas WETMORE Esq. three acres of land, being Lots 6, 7 and 8 in the town plat of Gage in the rear of his dwelling house and the lot purchased from Elias SCRIBNER Junr. Executors not to dispose of estate at Saint John until all children are of age. Residue to be divided among my children, Sarah, Valentine Hewlett, Charles Jeffery, James, Thomas Horsfield, Harry, Benjamin Lester and William Tyng when youngest son William is of age. Wife and sons Valentine Hewlett, Charles Jeffery, James and Thomas Horsfield PETERS executors. No witnesses. Inventory, dated 6 March 1821, valued at £211 by Elijah SMITH and Daniel BABBIT.
