Abstract Township of Burton on the River St. John, late of New York, clerk. Will dated 28 July 1784, proved 24 April 1786. Real estate in Nova Scotia and New York to be sold and proceeds divided among wife Mary SAYRE, eldest son James SAYRE, son John SAYRE, son Francis [Bowes] SAYRE, son Cadwalladder Elison, daughter Rachel CUNNINGHAM, daughter Esther ROBINSON, daughter Mary Elizabeth SAYRE, and daughter Theodisia [Minnetta] SAYRE. Wife Mary all movables and plate. Watch to son Cadwalladder. Servant Rosanna to be freed. Appointed wife guardian of any minor children, wife Mary and son James (described in Court documents as "James SAYRE Junior") with friend James Jarvis Esq. of New York as executors. Witnesses: Archibald McDONALD, Thomas HART and Nancy KETCHAM.
