Abstract Parish of Botsford, Westmorland County, Farmer. Will dated 6 December 1827, proved 4 January 1828. Wife Mary SPENCE the use of all real and personal estate while my widow. Son James SPENCE one half of my homestead at my wife's decease. Son George SPENCE the other half of my homestead, together with the Shemogue farm, at my wife's decease. Son George my share of the schooner "Hope" and my half of her rigging. Sons James and George my share of [Terrehous] farm and my movable property and household furniture at my wife's decease. Son William SPENCE £5. Daughter Elizabeth GRANT £10 together with what her husband John GRANT is indebted to me. Daughter Sarah DOBSON £40. Daughter Mary SMITH £50. Daughter Thomasin AMOS £70. Daughter Hannah CHAPMAN 5 shillings. Grandson William GRANT £10 at his marriage. William SPENCE, James SPENCE and Robert AMOS executors. Witnesses: Gilbert WALL, Jennet AMOS, Irving SLOAN. William PEACOCK, John ANDERSON and William ANDERSON directed to appraise the estate. On 4 January 1828 two of the executors, William and James SPENCE produced the will and also a Codicil, dated 14 December 1827, which is not in the file.
