Abstract Parish of Sussex, Kings County, Farmer. Will dated 5 August 1817, proved 29 November 1817. Wife Mary VAIL one third part of real estate for life, to descend to my son John Cougle VAIL at her death. Wife Mary all household furniture, the house in which I live, one horse, two cows, six sheep and all bonds, notes and debts due me for her life. Rector, Church Wardens and Vestry of the Parish of Sussex one acre of land now made use of for the purpose of "intering the Corps of my Neighbours." Rector, Church Wardens and Vestry of the Parish of Sussex one quarter acre of land to erect a school house. Residue of estate to son John Cougle VAIL, he paying his sisters Susannah and Ann the following legacies. Daughter Susannah, wife of Henry LEONARD Esq., £130 within eight years of my decease at the rate of £16 5s. per annum without interest. Daughter Ann, wife of Thomas Oliver ARNOLD, £130 in the same manner. Sons John Cougle VAIL and Thomas Oliver ARNOLD executors. Witnesses: Samuel HALLETT, Samuel FAIRWEATHER, Oliver ARNOLD. Inventory, dated 24 November 1817, valued at £1,384 by George [HATFIELD] and Christopher SHECK.
