Abstract Parish of Hopewell, Westmorland County, Schoolmaster. Will dated 18 April 1808, proved 29 November 1821. Each of my sisters now living, Elizabeth HUNTLY(sic), Amy FOX and Prudence MARTIN, £50. The heirs of my two sisters which are deceased £50 to be divided among them. Niece Prudence [MELTON] "which I took a Child to bring up, besides what I have done for her" £25. Niece Elizabeth LAYTON of Falmouth, Nova Scotia, a daughter of Oliver FOX, £5. My sister Elizabeth HUNTLEY "exclusive of the fifty pounds I give the Sum of five pounds."   "There is a Legasey in my hands left by Asa WICKWIRE deceased of Twenty pounds to be paid to James & Joseph CARLILE if they ever Return to receive it if not to be paid to their Brother and Cisters." The Township of Hopewell the interest of £200 to be used in assisting a Minister of the Gospel in this place, building a Meeting house for the worship of God and assisting poor children in their education forever. Sarah and Peter WICKWIRE, son and daughter of my brother Silas WICKWIRE each 25 shillings. Friends David HOAR, Obadiah NEWCOMB and William REED executors. Witnesses: Samuel RANDAL, Sarah RANDAL, Mary Ann BOYD. CODICIL dated 24 June 1813 provides that sisters to have only the interest of the legacies of £50 and, at their decease, the principal to be divided among their children. Revokes legacy to Prudence MELTON. Directs that nephew William CARLILE replace Obadiah NEWCOMB as executor. Witnesses: Benjamin REED, William D. REED, James REED.
