Abstract Parish of Kingston, Kings County, Clerk of the Parish of Kingston. Will dated 6 August 1804, proved 8 March 1809. Wife Amy use of one third of all real estate and use of my two servant boys Robert and Sampson, the first being twelve years old the fourth of March last, the other ten the twenty-sixth of August next, under the following restrictions, that is to say, that at the age of twenty-six years they shall be set at liberty, provided they do faithfully discharge the duty of servants until that period. Wife and son Elias SCOVIL to be their overseers. Wife Amy half my household furniture and one half of my stock. Daughter Sarah the other half of my household furniture and stock. Sons James, William, Samuel, Daniel, Edward and Henry have received their portions in land, buildings and stock and my daughter Hannah in household furniture. Executors to call on my son James SCOVIL to pay such proportion of a bond of £200 lawful money of the State of Connecticut as they think equitable. Likewise, executors to dispose of my right and title in land at the head of Bellisle Bay granted to Revd. James SCOVIL and four others to pay my just debts. Son Elias my library of books and manuscripts. Wife Amy, sons Elias and William SCOVIL executors. Witnesses: Richard CLARKE, Oliver ARNOLD, Peter [HURDER] (signed variously as "Peteter HURDEN" and "Peter HURDER"). CODICIL undated, voids bequest to daughter Sarah and bequeaths her £80 instead. Same witnesses. Inventory of personal effects, dated 10 March 1809, valued at £109 by William SCOVIL and Elias SCOVIL.
