Settlers’ squared-timber log cabin and outbuilding. – [after 1870]. – 1 photograph : b&w ; 14 x 24 cm. Photographer unknown. These buildings were probably built in Scotch Colony or New Denmark settlement, but would have been similar to those constructed at Stanley in the 1830s. Note the numerous tree stumps, which indicate that the land was cleared not long before the photo was taken. This image sheds light on the difficulties settlers faced as they struggled to establish themselves on the land. P4-1-42 Ketchum photographs, PANB.
