The Carleton Street Bridge in Fredericton was completed in 1905 to replace the first wooden bridge,,built in 1881, but destroyed by fire in 1905. It connected downtown Fredericton in the south with the village of Devon in the north. This photo, circa 1915, shows the bridge, with a few men and a horse and buggy also shown. In those days, a $20 fine was levied on horse-drawn carriages that exceeded walking speed. The bridge was demolished in the late 1980s
