The fishing industry played a key role in New Brunswick's economy for a long time. Fish processing plants were established in the coastal regions of the province and allowed for diversifying fishery-related activities. This photo, circa 1900, was taken in Grand Manan and shows A.E. Gachell and crew curing herring.
