This photo of a sardine processing plant in Charlotte County was taken circa the 1950s. Fishing and fish processing have been major activities in this region since the late 19th century. The village of Black's Harbour, where Connors Bros. Ltd. established its large plant, has even been named the sardine capital of the world.
