Reference number: P11-123

Place : Campbellton
Date : c 1920

Intercolonial Railway travelled from Halifax, Nova Scotia, to Quebec City. It connected the Maritime provinces with the rest of Canada. It was decided at the Quebec City Conference to build this railroad to unite all of the colonies. Its construction later became a condition of the 1867 Constitution. Seen here: railway tunnel at Morrissey Rock near Campbellton. This tunnel is the only one of its kind in the Maritimes.
