The Intercolonial Railway came to Campbellton in 1875 and was instrumental in the city's development. From 1875 to 1910, transportation, sawmills, and the commercial fishery contributed to economic development and population growth. This section was part of Intercolonial's Moncton - Mont-Joli line.
