Grammar schools were established for the education of secondary-level students who had already completed primary studies at home or in another school. To attend secondary school, the students had to be capable of managing the post-primary curriculum. Secondary schools appeared in the province of New Brunswick in the early 1800s. This picture shows the secondary school in Campbellton circa the 1910s. It was built in 1895.
