This building located in Moncton housed Intercolonial Railway offices until it burned down in 1882. Intercolonial Railway linked the Maritime provinces with Québec, leaving from Halifax and arriving in Montreal as the last stop. The train ride from Quebec City to Halifax cost $14. Round-trip fare was $21. The arrival of Intercolonial's offices and warehouses in the 19th century contributed to Moncton's economic development and overall expansion. The railway industry was long a key part of the local economy.
