This photo shows a railroad under construction. Railroad building was long, challenging work. First, the land where tracks would be laid was surveyed to determine the shortest, most convenient route. Then came the actual construction. Dynamite was used on the land to break up any rocks in the soil, and a passage was cleared for the trains. Lastly, the track was installed, and the railroad was completed.
