Steeves an early postmaster: in 1866 Steeves Mountain was a farming community with about 50 families including the families of Archibald Steeves, Job Steeves, Reuben Steeves, Richard Steeves, Robert P. Steeves and Rufus Steeves, and 10 Lutes families: in 1871 it had a population of 100: in 1904 Steeves Mountain had 1 post office and a population of 100.
