: PO 1864-1915: in 1866 Cape Spear was a farming and fishing settlement with approximately 34 resident families, including 13 Allen families: in 1871 it had a population of 100: in 1898 Cape Spear was a seaport and a settlement with 1 post office, 4 lobster factories, 1 church and a population of 250.
