Located on Heron Channel in the Chaleur Bay, 2.48 km E of Upper Charlo: Colborne Parish, Restigouche County: probably named for an early trapper in the area: PO Charlo Station 1881-1968: in 1898 Charlo Station was on the Intercolonial Railway and was a farming and fishing community with 1 post office, 2 stores, 2 hotels, 1 salmon freezer, 1 packing plant and a population of 250: included the community of Upper Charlo: PO 1887-1968: PO Charlo from 1968: the village was incorporated as Colborne in 1966 and as Charlo in 1969.
