Located on the Kennebecasis River, 3.19 km NE of Moss Glen, opposite Gondola Point: Kingston Parish, Kings County: named for a community in England: PO Clifton 1864-1950: in 1866 Clifton was a farming and shipbuilding village with approximately 40 families, including 9 Flewelling families and 12 Wetmore families: in 1871 it had a population of 250: in 1898 Clifton had 1 post office, 1 store, 1 church and a population of 220: PO Clifton Royal from 1950 with the word "Royal" being added to distinguish it from the Clifton in Gloucester County.
