: first called Little River (Coverdale): PO 1857-1903: in 1866 Little River (Coverdale) was a farming settlement with about 70 families: in 1871 it had a population of 300: in 1898 Little River had 1 post office, 1 store, 2 grist mills, 1 church and a population of 250: renamed Colpitts Settlement for Robert Colpitts who came from Durham, England in 1775: PO 1903-1915: in 1904 Colpitts had 2 grist mills and a population of 250.
