Located on Caraquet Bay, 5.32 km ENE of Pokeshaw: New Bandon Parish, Gloucester County: settled about 1810: PO Grand Ance 1851-c1885: PO Grande-Anse from c1885: in 1871 it had a population of 700: in 1898 Grande-Anse was a station on the Caraquet and Gulf Shore Railway and a fishing and farming community with 4 stores, 1 hotel, 1 starch factory, salmon fisheries, 1 fish freezer, 1 lobster factory, 1 church and a population of 800: Grande-Anse was incorporated as a village in 1968.
