Located 6.13 km NNE of Gagetown: Cambridge Parish, Queens County: William Francis Ganong identified the Maliseet name for Jemseg as Ahjimeck or "picking up place": PO 1850-1969: in 1866 Jemseg was a farming settlement with about 48 families including 6 Colwell and 11 Dykeman families: in 1871 it had a population of 150: in 1898 Jemseg had 1 post office, 1 store, 1 hotel, 1 sawmill, 1 church and a population of 200.
